DashCam - FREE · Last updated 17 August 2026

In short

Who we are

The DashCam - FREE iOS app is developed and published by MAIN OÜ, an Estonian private limited company (registry code 11272196), registered at Soosepa tee 46-2, Pärnamäe küla, Viimsi vald, Harju maakond, 74020, Estonia. Where this policy involves personal data, MAIN OÜ is the data controller. For privacy questions, use the contact address on our support page.

This policy covers the DashCam - FREE app only. Our other products have their own policies - see apps.

What the app collects

Nothing. DashCam has no backend. It does not create an account, does not ask you to sign in, does not contain analytics or crash-reporting SDKs, does not contain advertising SDKs, and does not transmit your recordings, settings, or usage to us or to anyone else. This matches the "Data Not Collected" declaration on the app's App Store privacy label.

What stays on your device

We have no access to any of this. Note that if you use iCloud, iTunes, or Finder backups, app data may be included in your backup under Apple's terms - that is a copy you control, not one we receive.

Permissions the app asks for, and why

PermissionRequired?Used for
Camera Required Capturing the video itself. Without it the app cannot function. The camera is active only while you are on the recording screen.
Microphone Optional Recording in-car audio alongside the video. Decline it and DashCam records silent video.
Photos (add only) Optional The "Save to Photos" action, which copies a clip you pick into your photo library. This is Apple's add-only permission - the app cannot read or browse your existing photos.

DashCam does not request location access and does not record your position, speed, or route. You can review or change any permission at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security or Settings → DashCam on your device.

Tracking and advertising

DashCam does not track you. It does not read the advertising identifier (IDFA), does not build a profile, does not share data with data brokers or ad networks, and therefore does not present Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. The app's privacy manifest declares NSPrivacyTracking = false.

The current version contains no advertising. If a future version introduces ads, we will update this policy and the App Store privacy label before that version is released, and users in the EU, UK, and Switzerland will be asked for consent through a certified consent platform.

Purchases and subscriptions

DashCam Pro is sold through the App Store using Apple's in-app purchase system. Apple is the merchant: your payment method, billing address, and Apple Account details are handled by Apple and are never sent to us. We do not receive, store, or have any way to see them.

Whether you hold an active subscription is determined on your device from the receipt Apple provides through StoreKit. That check happens locally and between your device and Apple; it does not involve any server of ours. Apple's handling of your purchase is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Required-reason APIs

Apple requires apps to declare certain iOS APIs and the reason they are used. DashCam's privacy manifest declares them, and in each case the data stays on the device and is never transmitted: app preferences storage (CA92.1), file timestamps (DDA9.1), and available disk space (E174.1, 85F4.1) so the app can warn you before storage runs out.

If you contact us

If you email us for support, we receive whatever you put in that message - typically your email address, your device model and iOS version, and your description of the problem. We use it only to answer you, and we delete support correspondence once the matter is closed and any applicable retention period has passed. Mail sent to our address is delivered through Cloudflare Email Routing, which relays it to our mailbox. Please do not send us recordings unless we specifically ask for one to diagnose a fault.

Children

DashCam is a general-audience utility for drivers. It is not directed at children, and it does not knowingly collect data from anyone - including children - because it does not collect data at all.

Your rights

Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation and Estonian law you have the right to access, correct, erase, port, or restrict processing of your personal data, and to object to processing and lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (in Estonia, the Data Protection Inspectorate / Andmekaitse Inspektsioon).

In practice there is very little for us to act on: we hold no data about you from your use of the app. Your recordings are yours and you can delete them at any time in the app's gallery, or remove all of them by deleting the app. If you have written to us, you can ask us to delete that correspondence - use the contact address on our support page. For purchase data, contact Apple.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves - in particular if a future version adds features that involve data leaving your device. The "last updated" date above always reflects the current version, and material changes will be reflected in the App Store privacy label before the version that makes them is released.
